70th Anniversary of NCPC Founding and Bio-manufacturing Industry Development Forum in Hebei Province Celebrated

To deeply implement the spirit delivered in President Xi Jinping's speech during his visit to Hebei, and to fully leverage the leading role of state-owned enterprises to assist the development of Hebei's biological manufacturing industry, on July 3^rd 2023, the 70^th anniversary celebration of the founding of North China Pharmaceutical Cooperation (NCPC) and the Hebei Province Bio-manufacturing Industry Development Forum were held in Taihang State Guesthouse, Shijiazhuang. At the forum, the Blue Book on the Development of Bio-manufacturing Industry in Hebei Province was issued and cooperation projects have been signed between NCPC and six units, including Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Hu Qisheng, Vice Governor and member of the Party Leadership Group of Hebei Provincial People's Government, Ma Yanhe, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Tianjin Municipal People's Congress, Director of Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiang Jiandong, academician of the CAE Member, president of the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Sun Xianze, president of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, Deng Zixin, academician of the CAS Member, professor of Wuhan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and director of the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism, Zhang Xian'en, Dean of the School of Synthetic Biology at Shenzhen University of Technology (preparatory) and Researcher at the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhou Kui, Deputy Secretary General and Member of the Party Group of the People's Government of Hebei Province, Fu Zhenbo, Secretary and Director of the Party Group and Department of Industry and Information Technology of Hebei Province, Wang Puqing, Secretary and Director of the Party Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission (SASAC) Hebei, and Liu Junzhi, Member of the Standing Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Shijiazhuang City, attended the celebration ceremony.

Hu Qisheng, on behalf of Hebei government, warmly congratulated NCPC’s 70^th anniversary and expressed heartfelt gratitude to friends from all walks of life who have long cared and supported the development of Hebei. He said, looking back on the journey, NCPC has great achievements in the past seventy years. The development history of NCPC embodies the development history of Hebei's pharmaceutical industry. As a major province in traditional medicine, Hebei's pharmaceutical industry has a strong foundation, distinctive cluster characteristics, outstanding innovation capabilities and strong strength of key enterprises, making important contributions to the economic development of the province. Looking forward to the new journey, the land of Yanzhao is full of vitality. Bio-pharmaceutical industry in Hebei Province is facing unprecedented significant opportunities. We hope that NCPC, as a representative of the pharmaceutical enterprises can seize the opportunity of policy and increase collaborative innovation and industrial collaboration, and strive to accelerate research and development innovation. Hand in hand towards the future, Hebei is facing a vast and bright future. The government will continue to create a favorable business environment, play our role as the public servant, share the development opportunities in Hebei with everyone, and jointly write a new chapter of win-win cooperation.

Jiang Jiandong, an academician of the CAE Member, president of the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Sun Xianze, president of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. They recalled their deep feelings with NCPC and expressed their wish that NCPC can seize the opportunity to make new contributions to the development and innovation of "Chinese medicine".

Liu Jian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman and General Manager of Jizhong Energy Group, presided over the opening ceremony. Mr. Liu expressed heartfelt gratitude to leaders at all levels and friends from all walks of life who have always cared about and supported the reform and development of NCPC. He said that Jizhong Energy Group, under the correct leadership and strong support of Hebei Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Government and the Provincial SASAC, has been continuing to optimize the product business structure in the pharmaceutical sector. We are aiming at building a "domestic leading bio-pharmaceutical enterprise", concentrating on developing the bio-pharmaceutical industry, and we will resolutely shoulder the banner of developing and expanding the bio-pharmaceutical industry and make new and greater contributions to Hebei chapter of Chinese path to modernization.

Xiao Mingjian, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman and General Manager of NCPC Group, delivered a speech. He stated that over the past 70 years, NCPC people have shouldered the mission of "revitalizing the national pharmaceutical industry". We have worked tirelessly and multiple firsts and uniqueness have been created in NCPC in China's pharmaceutical history. NCPC has written a history of the development of China's pharmaceutical and health industry. During the past 70 years, NCPC has engraved in the monument of history with his unwavering commitment to manufacturing "Chinese medicine", his persistent pursuit of modern management and his tireless technological exploration. Starting with the celebration of the 70th anniversary, NCPC will fully unleash a new wave of "second entrepreneurship", strive to build a beautiful new NCPC and make new and greater contributions to promoting the high-quality development of the bio-pharmaceutical industry in Hebei.

The attending academicians and experts exchanged and shared ideas on the new engine of synthetic biology and biological manufacturing, developing Chinese innovator drugs, strengthening the construction of innovative capabilities in biological manufacturing, and leveraging disruptive innovation in massive health technology and industry through synthetic biology. They provided suggestions for the development of the biological manufacturing industry in Hebei Province. Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Materia, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Institute of Biotechnology, Zhejiang University, etc. have released projects, and the participating units have carried out project docking to seek common development and create the future. More than 400 attendee, including experts  from relevant provincial and municipal departments, universities, hospitals, strategic clients, financial institutions, regulatory agencies, pharmaceutical enterprises, industry associations, and employees of NCPC, participated in the celebration conference and forum.
